14 Ways the Girl with a Big Heart but a Complicated Mind Loves Differently

So earlier in September I came across an article by Anna Bashkova about how girls with a big heart but a complicated mind love differently… and I’m kind of in love with it. I made a few tweaks here and there and the results are glimpses of the interworkings of my mind when it comes to love:

Being with the girl with a big heart but complicated mind may sometimes feel like you’re dating the most complex and satisfying of all puzzles.

Just when you start to feel like you’re figuring her out – you find another piece of the puzzle that throws everything off.

The girl with a big heart but complicated mind definitely loves differently. Spoiler alert: you’ll always be entertained.

1.       Our hearts keep it simple- we fall in love to the fullest extent and we never second guess our feelings. When we love, we love intensely and we’re 110 percent sure.

2.       But our minds are another story- they’re analytical and imaginative and we think about everything. A lot. We admit that we’re over thinkers. Or could the rest just be under-thinkers? In any case, we end up making every situation in our life about 100x more difficult than it has to be. Sawry.

3.       We still appreciate every little thing you do. Whether it’s picking us up for a date, playing with our hair when we’re watching a movie or calling to see how we’re feeling. We’re quick to realize it and thank you for your sincerity.

4.       But we’ll never just go along with some semblance of a mediocre passionless relationship. That might mean we’ll sometimes argue with you at inopportune times, but it’s not because we like drama – our anger is fueled by passion and emotions. We care and only want the best for ourselves and our partner.

5.       That might mean at times we’ll challenge or confront you. As much as we love you, we aren’t the type of girl who nods and laughs and is always comfortable, we aren’t easy- as in, we don’t just always “go with the flow”.

6.       But that’s because we crave more from you- we have opinions and big dreams for the future. We won’t put up with not getting everything we deserve. We won’t let you get away with slacking on your talents.

7.       We’re complicated but not when it comes to our feelings for you- we’re more than happy to spend a night in with you, cuddling and watching a funny movie. Just spending time with us and showing us your love is more than enough.

8.       Yes, at times we can get angry and be difficult, but know our intentions are always good. We’re not insecure control freaks, in fact we’re the exact opposite. We just think. A lot. We’ll teach you how to be a better boyfriend and person because we won’t let you do whatever you want.

9.       Some of the best gifts you can give us have no price tag. We get chills when you say the words “I love you” and we actually melt every time you look into our eyes with emotion and sincerity.

10.   Communication is the greatest form of intimacy to us. None of your stories are unimportant. We want to hear it all.

11.   Our hearts are very straightforward. We either get into a relationship where we know that we’re putting our time and energy into something that will ultimately pay off or end in a serious commitment.. Or we’re just not going to bother. If we like someone, we really like them.

12.   But our minds couldn’t be further from conventional. We hate the concept of how things are “supposed to be.” We couldn’t have a “normal” life if we tried. We have no desire to follow the pre-determined form which means we will never just accept something; we question everything and investigate things for ourselves.

13.   You’ll never be left uninspired or unsatisfied. It’s our intolerance of how things “are supposed to be” that has sparked us to innovate the lives we actually want to live, and we’ll definitely expand your mind and capabilities because of it.

14.   Yes, we have a lot of enigmatic traits. Our head and heart can be a paradox all within themselves. At times it won’t be easy, but no one will love you better. No one will fill your life with more passion and inspiration.

So there’s that. ♥

WiLdCaRd

My name is Patricia Kelly Coqueijo Tomaz and I’m a Mormon. My parents were both converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as teenagers in Brazil. Through their amazing faith of the light that the gospel brings, they raised  my older brother and I into the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Being born in the covenant, I was baptized by age 8, and I truly felt as if I had a rock star of a testimony growing up. I knew that the gospel was true, that the Book of Mormon was a compass given to us by a loving Heavenly Father, and that Christ was our Savior. I believed that nothing in this whole world could ever take that away from me. Until one day, my whole life and faith was shaken apart.

I genuinely thought I was in amazing place spiritually back in high school. And maybe I truly was? But Heavenly Father knows how much potential for greatness we all I have, and gives us trials so that we can access that humility and grace through Jesus Christ. So He kind of threw a huge mountain at me, by wiping away every inch of my testimony. Hardest trial by far. Hardest loss I've ever experienced.

At the time, a lot of everything was happening all at once. My best friends were leaving on their missions, people I loved were struggling through depression, my mom was battling anxiety and depression of her own kind by losing both her parents and having to go through the hardship of breast cancer, and to go along with my own personal trials of faith, I was also struggling with a broken heart due to the ending of a two year relationship with someone I had fallen madly in love with. I know. It still kind of gives me a head ache to think about, and I felt as if I had to take care of everyone at the time, while also trying to face my own trials in life.
I had the whole world on my shoulders. I had no idea where to even begin or who to turn to. I went months without the answers my heart sought, and in those times, I began doubting everything about myself. I had never felt so empty and alone.
However, that was turning point that I needed in moments of a broken heart and a contrite spirit. I turned to Christ, gave everything to God, and went to sleep. I began on working on the things I did know and kept going from there.

Now? Everything I hear, everything I listen to, everything that I experience? It all feels brand new to me. It's like Heavenly Father has given me a completely brighter, newer, set of eyes. It's incredible. It's like I've become a little child. I have to work harder to understand things, but everything I do understand, feels pure. Slowly but surely, my testimony is returning back to me, and dare I even say: stronger than it has ever been!

I have never had to question, work, or find out the gospel for myself, and this journey has been one of great self-reflection and wonder. Working hard to learn the mysteries of God has been a rollercoaster, (I’m not going to lie), with both its ups and downs.
I’ve come to realize that Heavenly Father is always here for us, awaiting the most perfect moment to answer our prayers. I'm far from perfect but I embrace that imperfection! Because I trust that He is currently working on us every day into helping us become the best version of ourselves. We just need to keep going, keep believing, and most importantly keep on praying.
We need the hard times to truly appreciate the good times around us. We should never believe that we are alone or never good enough. Those are lies shared by the world that simply aren’t true.

I've seen the good, and I've been through the bad. I know what it is like to feel lost. Right now, I know that I have so much work yet still in front of me, but that there is also so much to be happy about. I have a beating heart, great examples in my life, and I have received special tender mercies in my life that further confirms God’s love for me. He truly has been taking care of me since the day I was born, as I was fighting to breathe and live in this beautiful, crazy, hard, wildcard of a life. (Another story for another day)

These past months I have realized that I have a simple testimony. And really that's all you truly ever need to bring hope, love, light, and BRIGHTNESS into your own life as well as others. I know for a fact that God lives. I know that Christ is my advocate. And those are the foundations that I believe will lead me into the rest of my life.

I don't understand God's timing or even His will sometimes. (Like re-learning and re-gaining a witness for everything that I already knew in the past) But I trust that He has a marvelous plan in store for me.

And if most of you readers are struggling through any tough times in your own lives, facing hardships you feel that no one else in the world can relate to; you are not alone. Also if you get the chance, listen to the lyrics of Jack Johnson's Better Together:
“Love is the answer to most of the questions in my heart. Why are we here, where do we go, and how come it’s so hard?”  Think about that for a second...

I know that God loves me. He loves you. He's aware of our needs and the needs of those we serve. Everything we do matters. Every thought, every action, every prayer. We get to design and live our own lives from this point forward. No pressure (: Your past doesn't define you. You can start anyday to choose to be happy. So start believing that you can, and you will! That's the beauty of this gift called life.

Be peaceful. Be valiant. Be true.

Restoring Faith in Humanity

This video is of hope, inspiration, giving, helping each other, the kindness of mankind, and it's just plain BEAUTIFUL!

“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
-Mother Teresa

A random act of kindness can end up changing the world. It restores each others faith in one another. Restores our faith in humanity. All it takes is time. It takes your time to look outside of yourself every once in while. To look around you and to truly see. You never know what hardships someone is simply going through, and that one loving act of service can make all the difference in the world.

All I can say to anyone reading this, is to keep believing in the good in others, and keep those around you believing as well because mankind is beautiful. It's true that there are bad things around us as well, and we can't always avoid and runaway from it. But we at the same time need to realize that there is a balance. For all the levels of bad in every day life, there is equally the same, if not more, levels of good.

You are capable of more than you know. You can create that goodness in life. You have the power to create change. You can initiate hope within yourself while also giving some to others. Everything is connected, and it starts with each of us individually.

There is a ripple effect that kindness creates. Someone can potentially witness our random act of service, and then they too can come to realize what good they can also do. Serving others impacts more people than we can even imagine. And guess what the best part is?

The fact, that you come to feel yourself becoming the change that you want to see in the world.

Isn't that what Ghandi tried telling us?! And I just don't know what better way to be remembered by others.. being good and kind is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.

So what are we waiting for? Serving, loving, being kind to others has the possibility to end up taking the whole world by storm! Kindness is love with its' work boots on, so let's get down to work. Let's initiate hope.

Live Only as You Can

Let's talk about creativity. Or rather the process and fulfillment that comes from never losing sight of our imagination.

Creativity is a beautiful and powerful aspect in our lives, and it’s absolutely incredible!! It has the potential to drive us towards leading an ultimate, fulfilling life. It connects us towards being inspired daily, changes our vision of the world around us, and creates ingenuity.

Albert Vincent Van Gogh describes a life without creativity as a normality that becomes a paved road, “It's comfortable to walk, but no flowers grow on it." Einstein describes creativity as intelligence having fun, while Thomas Edison wisely states that “When you have exhausted all possibilities, remember this: You haven’t.” If you haven’t found a hobby or past time that initiates this life changing intellection, or feel inspiration less, self-reflect and find out what it is that you need to do to tap into that creativity in your life today. To help you guys out, as well as myself, I have found this list below that simply talks about what causes creativity:

What Causes Creativity

  1. Confidence: ability to question without fear
  2. Observation: seeing problems/ideas
  3. Mindfulness: thinking on how you think
  4. Humility: kowing you don't know everything
  5. Curiosity: exploring and experimenting
  6. Resourcefulnss: something to tinker with
  7. Energy: to explore and tinker
  8. Action: not just thinking but doing

Personally, I have found in my life that what drives my personal creativity as a busy and working college student is in the way that I take the time to appreciate the world around me as I’m driving, trying out new things and hobbies, dancing in my free time, writing, or creating a tailored artistry work for my lash extensions and skin care clients. I’ve even one day took the challenge from Vincent Van Gogh that says, “If you hear a voice within you say, ‘You cannot paint,’ then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.”
I definitely had never painted a day in my life when I took this challenge upon myself. So I called one of my childhood best friends and convinced her to come aboard my plan. We drove over to a nearby Hobby Lobby and bought all of the needed essentials; easels, a variety of paints, and brushes. As we were brainstorming on what to paint, we decided to try and re-create a rather famous painting by using our non-existent brush strokes techniques and mixing our own colors to make it our very own. It was definitely a messy experience and my appreciation for artists and talented painters has grown profusely. We did a take of A Starry Night Sky while listening to some sweet jams.

Don’t laugh if you know anything about art… but this is how they turned out:

Not too shabby for a first time painter (: It was so fun and they both turned out so uniquely different! Mine is the one to the right.
Okay and I know that we have all heard the food for thought question of, “Can you remember who you were before the world told you who you should be?” Personally that question crosses my mind almost everyday, and if I earned a nickel for every time that someone brought it to my attention,  I'd be rich and eating chocolate macaroons on a beach right now! But there is so much truth and depth behind it. The world transforms us into conformation by building a routine of daily habits and tasks, which then becomes what ultimately drives us into a mediocre life. We lose sight of our potential and creativity when we don’t take a step back, self-reflect. What are the ways that we become inspired? Is it through dance? Finger painting? Reading a book for fun? Or is it even discovering a new hobby that pushes us into developing our talents? Sometimes we need to be willing to try new things out and simply just enjoy the journey.

I love how Kyle Cease makes a point about this in his video below about “Why People’s Opinions Don’t Really Matter.” (Warning: This video may contain two swear words, but it is rather inspiring and definitely worth the watch) The last few minutes of this video is incredibly powerful.
I believe that the worst enemy to that creativity is self-doubt. Creativity takes courage and a realization that it's not just about creativity itself. It is more about the person you are becoming through that creative and intellectual development of your mind.  There's also a sense of fulfillment that comes from never losing sight of our imagination. One of my all-time favorite quotes is from the stunning Lupita Nyongo based on her wisdom and journey for her own self-actualization and process of creativity. She states, "You can't rely on how you look to sustain you. What is fundamentally beautiful is compassion for yourself and for those around you. That kind of beauty enflames the heart and enchants the soul."

Your life only gets better when you do. The struggle is real.... but so is God. He will help us to develop our talents and inspire us to find a way to lead a creative and imagination filled life. President Dieter Uchtdorf from the Church of Latter Day Saints enlightens us with the powerful truth of how, "The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul."

It takes guts to be gentle and kind and becomes rather easy to conform to the world around us. So work on yourself. Go out there! Be inspired by something new today. Build your identity. Follow you heart and intuition. Be confident about yourself and who you are becoming. The rest will simply follow because the one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your own voice, your own mind, your own story, experiences, memories, your own vision. Take time to do what makes your soul happy. I promise that it will be worth it! So go write and draw and build and play and dance and live only as you can.

Rainy Day Introduction

First things first. Let me introduce myself… Hello readers, my name is Patricia T. I was born in a beautiful city in Brazil named Joao Pessoa, raised in Pompano Beach, Florida, to then move out to where I am today; in a suburban hometown off of Salt Lake City, Utah. Coming from palms to pines, it’s only natural that I love to travel. I am an artistic college student, LDS, sometimes fashionista, Master Esthetician, and currently I had too much to dream last night.
My favorite color is constantly changing. My favorite foods consist of anything that has chocolate in it. I’m a leo if you’re into that sort of thing. I absolutely love the rain, books, and salted caramel hot chocolate. What else would you like to know? I guess I am a wander lusted traveler with an adventurous heart, and the most important thing to me in this whole wide world is the people that I love (family & friends) and their happiness. I also passionately believe that there is actual good in this world and that each one of us has the potential to make a difference; even if it’s simply by inspiring someone around us with a smile.

Here in this blog of mine, I am going to showcase the beauty that not everyone can see… but yet still exists, amongst other blog worthy topics of thoughts, pictures, adventures, sometimes recipes, and experiences from my life. (: I also hope to bring meaning and light into people’s lives, and ask the question of “What’s stopping you? What’s stopping you from chasing your dreams?” If that is you. (You know who you are) Replace the fear of the unknown with curiosity and just explore life like we’re little kids once again. Build blanket forts, watch your favorite Disney movies or Scooby-Doo, eat cookies, finger-paint, explore, get messy, and pretend to be rock stars or ballerinas! The only constant in our lives is change. Carpe Diem. So let’s start this journey.. let's be adventurers darling && welcome to the interworkings of my mind. Tout est possible. (Anything is possible) Until next time!
